Presentation of the Anthology Passion Themes

The Passion at the foundations of Croatian culture

An anthology of 32 papers on Passion themes in Croatian culture, published by the Mimara Museum and the Passion Heritage Association, was presented in the Vijenac hall.

The anthology Passion Themes. The Passion at the Foundations of Croatian Culture – on the 1100th Anniversary of the Kingdom of Croatia was presented on 17 June 2025 in the Vijenac hall of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Institute in Zagreb. It contains 32 texts on Passion themes and is dedicated to Jozo Čikeš, founder and long-time president of the Passion Heritage Association.

The programme opened with the vocal group LADA. The museum director Tajana Pleše spoke on behalf of the publisher, and Rev. Vlado Mikšić, commissioner for cultural heritage of the Archdiocese of Zagreb, on behalf of the host. He spoke of the cross as a symbol linking the divine and the human, and of the influence of the Passion on Christian art – from Michelangelo's Pietà and Dürer's crucifixions to the works of Josip Botteri Dini, whose illustrations appear in the anthology.

The book was presented by the editors Lada Ratković Bukovčan, Dino Milinović, Stjepan Pepeljnjak and Jozo Čikeš. The publication was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Zagreb.
